Where do you draw your inspiration from? Have you inspired anyone lately?
This week, as I was scrolling through my endless updates on Facebook, Melissa Boren’s status update popped up. She posted an accomplishment of hers… HER FIRST HANDSTAND PUSHUP! You can watch it here!
These types of posts and these types of moments are what inspire me. To see someone in our gym accomplish something that she admitted to me later on in the week, “I never thought I was going to be able to do”, is awesome to me! Think about that. 1 year ago, she got her first handstand and just a year later she got her first handstand push-up.
These victories don’t come easy. The thing this video doesn’t show is the daily work that Melissa put in to get to this point. Melissa is at the gym like clockwork everyday at 8:30 AM. She comes in and she puts the work in. She listens to the coaches and is always open to learning new things.
Thank you Melissa for sharing your victory with us. Thank you to all of you who work and accomplish amazing things at the gym.
Yesterday, I was able to coach a Saturday for the first time in a long time. I generally only coach in the morning because it better fits my schedule and my personality but it was so cool to see some of our members who I coached in foundations a short few months back. The progress in their barbell movements and physical capacity was amazing. Sometimes it may feel like your progress is slow but no matter how tortoise-like your progress may feel, you’re still progressing and making huge strides in the long run.
