It’s the end of the world! Not really but this last week has definitely thrown some curveballs our way and just like learning a new movement in CrossFit, we have to learn to adapt and overcome.

Covid-19
What are we doing as a gym?
First off, at the beginning of this Flu Season we had already stepped up our cleaning game but with this new epidemic our cleaning team has taken extra precautions and have continually cleansed all equipment and surfaces.
On top of that, we have added two new hand sanitizer stations and extra Clorox wipe stations along with the already available Sanitizer-filled bottles and rags we use to clean up the floors and bars.
We are continually following new developments and will adhere to the CDC’s recommendations to help keep everyone healthy.

I want to let you know that we are doing all in our power to provide a clean and safe place for you all to come and workout during this time. The more proactive we can be the better. Please help us in keeping the gym clean and sanitary for all.

What can you do?
First and foremost, if you have a fever or dry cough and shortness of breath, please STAY HOME and complete our provided at-home workouts. If you do have these symptoms, be sure to get tested early and avoid social settings.
If you feel good and healthy, come into the gym. When you come in, sanitize, sanitize, sanitize. Before and after every class, clean the equipment you used. Wipe down all the surfaces that you touch and NO MORE HIGH FIVES! You all can cheer and celebrate accomplishments but try to avoid hugging and handshaking and high fives for the time being. I didn’t realize how hard this is until I started to do it this past week. Takes some getting used to.

We are open!
For the time-being, we will keep the schedule the same. In addition to keeping the same hours, I will be adding at-home options for those who choose to social distance or who are needing to self-quarantine. I will explain the at-home workouts more below.

At-home workouts
Every day I will be providing a video with instructions on the daily at-home workout and demonstrations. I will take you through the workout so even though you are at home you can participate and get a workout in.
These at-home workouts will be added to SugarWOD so you can continue to record and keep track of your workouts. These workouts will use mostly body-weight and maybe we’ll get a little creative with things we can use in the house.
I will send the link for these workouts along with the time I plan on doing them live. You can join it live or watch a recorded version when you find some time during the day.
This could be a great opportunity for you to join with your family and workout together!

Kids classes
With the schools shutting down the next two weeks, I have decided to add two new hours to the schedule. A TEENS CLASS! For the next two weeks on Monday and Wednesday we will be having a teens class for ages 13-17 from 3:30-4:30 PM. This two week course will be just $25!
We will continue to run our two other kids classes that run Monday and Wednesday at 4:30 PM for the 6-9 year olds and 5:15 for the 10-13 year olds. I’ll extend the 2 week offer for these classes as well.

Why?
I think it is important for you to understand why I feel it’s important for us to stay open and to provide these services.
I want you to know that I am not taking this lightly and I am very aware of the severity of what is going on. I also want to let you know that I believe that we all need our home away from home now more than ever.
Our whole purpose of our gym is to help you all move from sick to healthy human beings.

What you all do and have been doing with us at Point Fitness has better prepared you for this contagion. I truly believe that. Being active and working out everyday has built up your strength to help you overcome this if you were to get it.
It is important that we keep working to better ourselves on the above scale and work to get closer and closer to Fitness. Whether that be at the gym or using our at-home options during this time, it doesn’t matter. What matters most is that we are in this together and my goal is to provide you with as many options as possible so that you can benefit from what we provide.

We are a family
The most important thing that I have learned over the past 8 years of having this gym is that we are a tight-knit community. Be there for each other. If you see a fellow member in need, please help. Reach out to those who are most at risk in our families and lend a helping hand. Go out and shop for your parents and grandparents so they can avoid crowds. If someone needs toilet paper, cleaner, or whatever else, find it for them and help them where you can. If you have a friend who is a small business owner at this time, reach out to them and see how you can help. While this is a scary health risk time it is a very real economic scare for small businesses. They are at a real risk of getting to the point where they will struggle to recover.
At the end of the day all we have are each other. This is a scary time but luckily we aren’t in this alone. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help or if you know of someone in dire need where we can call on our great community to help.

Thanks again for your patronage. We are one of those small businesses I spoke of above and your continued membership goes a long ways and will hopefully keep us going for years to come.
