Good Morning Point Fitness!
2020 CrossFit Open
First of all, if you didn’t make it to FNL, your shirts are laid out on the boxes in the foyer. Please take the size that you ordered and mark your name off the list.
The Open is drawing to an end. I have loved watching you all take on these challenges the past 5 weeks. This open has been so fun. I love how competitive you all are but also I have loved the shift from “I am going to beat you attitude” to “I’ll do my best, cheer you on and let the pieces fall where they may” attitude.
I was talking to some of you about this attitude and comparing it to golf. If you ever watched a golf tournament you learn a lot by the interviews. Each golfer can’t control how their competitors perform. All they can focus on is completing the best round possible and hope that it’s enough to come out with a win.
It’s ok to be happy for those you compete with. It actually makes competing more fun. If all you are doing is worrying about how good so and so did and how it’s not fair that this movement was in the workout or that the programming was “stupid” this year or whatever other frivolous complaint out there, then it ruins the whole experience and the whole purpose of why we compete.
We compete to challenge ourselves. We compete to take ourselves out of our comfort zones and accomplish something new. We compete to test ourselves and to help us set goals for the future. Competing, especially in the open, helps set a measuring stick to where we are now and where we want to be by next year. I hope that we all keep that in perspective as we come to the end of this Open competition season.
It was such a special moment Friday night at the end of the final heat. Pat and the boys came out and we were able to give them this box with all of your thoughts and messages along with this beautiful picture and gift basket full of fun activities and gift cards to help them as they make this tough transition with the loss of Josie, Pat’s wife and the boy’s loving mother.
I just want to thank you all for contributing and being there for Pat and his family. I know he is so grateful and has expressed his thanks to me and I want to relay those thoughts to all of you. Thank you so much.
It will be a long road ahead for them but I am encouraged with the support they have from not only their family but from us, their gym family.
Next thing up for us is the holidays! Holidays are always hard to stay consistent physically. Set your goals now to come into the gym consistently through the end of the year.

We also have our annual competition! We currently have 59 teams of 2 signed up for this December 7th competition and if you are not competing, we definitely could use you on the volunteer side of things!
Please let me know if you are available to help us judge and organize on December 7th.
Don’t forget that yoga is free through the end of the year! We have a yoga class on Wednesdays at 8 PM and and we have our Myofascial Rolling class on Saturdays at 9 AM. I apologize for yesterday. Our Yoga teacher got stuck behind that fatal crash on I-15 and was unable to make it in. There were quite a few of you who came, please try again next week!
