Good Afternoon CFTP, Great week 1 of the Paleo Challenge. If you haven’t done so be sure to enter your first 2 Benchmark WOD scores and also all your diet scores! Even if you had a cheat meal you get more points for entering it then you do for not entering a score. So get onto your account and enter your scores. Also everyone should have had their measurements taken. Please enter them so Amy can validate them. We will be doing Benchmark WOD 3 tomorrow and if you missed any of the other WODs you have until the end of the week to get them done and entered. It is up to you to enter the scores and I will validate them once you have entered them. When the deadline is over you will not be able to enter so please don’t forget.
This Paleo challenge is a great challenge to more than ever push your minds to break unhealthy habits. This is not an easy task. Sugar is a drug that we have been taking our entire lives. It is our happy drug. I even find myself craving it even though I know how it’s going to make me feel afterwards. It makes us crash. Those quick sugars and simple carbs get into our system and give us an almost instant high. A high that we crave and we crave it even more because it is so readily available. It’s amazing to think that I could walk into a gas station and literally look at every ingredients label (and believe me I have) and find nothing that I can eat while living this healthy lifestyle but yet that is the place that we find ourselves much too often. It is convenient (hence the name convenience store). It is easy. It is quick. That is what we are all about now days. What can I get now to fulfil this NEED! I’m hungry so I better swing by a gas station…
This is not going to be an easy habit to break. I have tried many times to live the Paleo lifestyle only to “starve” myself to the point of breaking down and eating crap. PREPARATION! This is the key. You must readily have food available for you to eat when you are hungry. You must prepare yourself before that hunger strikes. Now days there are so many resources out there that will help you find delicious recipes. If you can’t find any then ask your CFTP team! We’re all in this together. Get on Facebook and join our Paleo group and ask for help. This is my fourth attempt at jumping on the clean eating Paleo challenge and this is the best I have felt on it. It’s a learning curve but it is worth the time investment!
One last thing I’d like to talk about is the upcoming WODsomniac Event. Last night we had a great time getting together and working on the already announced WODs. Now if you and your team did not make it contact them now and set up a time to train together. Get your schedules put together so you at least have one session together before the event. This is going to teach you so much about what you can expect out of each other. My team is planning a get together in the middle of this week because I believe practice makes perfect. I know everyone who showed up last night now has a better understanding of what they can expect in three weeks. It was awesome to see all your hard work come together and to see you work together as a team. I really cannot wait to see you all perform at this year’s WODsomniac! Coach Dan
